a new day for the little nipper!

What a glorious day for Little H's first day as an under 6 Nipper!
I don't know who was more excited, us or him. It was hilarious watching this agegroup; not listening to direction, parents hovering with cameras and waterbottles and finally tears at the end...

still great though.. How was yours?

superheroes and all that boy stuff...

The H's went to a party this morning and Little H wore his new Munster Astro Boy tee (instore now).
How cute does he look!
He turns three next month......

How's your Sunday been?

Simonmadeit

A couple of weeks ago was little H's 5th birthday... can you believe it!

We didn't have a big party at home, we just decided to ask a couple of his preschool friends for a play at a playhouse nearby.

So I didn't feel too guilty for not having a big one at home, I bought the Lego artwork pack from simonemadeit and wow-wee was it a hit!! Huddie loved it and it was so easy!

The bunting and water bottles looked so effective, I highly recommend Simon's work. He was so easy to work with, fast and printing was easy; a 1/2 hour trip to office works and it all cost under $30 (including artwork)!

my little h's are growing......

When we are in Sydney and want a quiet weekend at home, we always go to Marrickville Organic Farmers Market. We get there early, have a fresh juice and maybe breakfast,  buy fresh produce for the week, kids have a run around and hopefully I find a vintage treat for the shop or home.

Last weekend was one of those weekends and the boys got their faces painted - they both wanted to be "Johnny", the fire guy from the Fantastic Four. They were so happy!

It is lovely to see them grow and have fun together, i think they are best mates.....

my little h is now 4

What a weekend! My Little h is no longer so little and just turned 4. His latest superhero obsession was the theme of his birthday party and we had lots of fun yesterday playing it up.

The kids were dressed, superman came and we had a ball.

We hired red and blue Munchkin table and chairs and were so happy with them. The kids sat often, were comfortable and they looked so good! I'd definitely recommend them.

I had a lot of fun with the theme, I kept the colours really tight and found great vintage Marvel Playing Cards on Etsy which I used for the lollybags and placemats. I tried to keep it more vintage marvel comics than the modern superhero squad (mums out there with boys will understand!).. Quite funny though, after all the effort, Little H decided to be a Ninja turtle cause 'they are superhero's too u know!".

Little H was so pooped by the end of the day that he asked everyone to go home so that he could go to bed at 6pm - maybe not so big after all.......

Happy Birthday Buddy xx

accomplishments...

There is nothing better than seeing the happiness on your child's face when he has accomplished something. Little H got a mini micro scooter from Santa but wasn't keen on it as it didn't 'turn' like his older cousin's razor scooter. It sadly sat lonely in the backyard. During the rain last week I decided to bring it inside (to store for Baby h) when Little h chose to rock on it while watching telly... well after a few minutes he realised he had learnt how to steer it! It was so lovely to watch his excitement and even better when he got the hang of using the back brake.. he was so proud of himself!

These were quick candid shots from the iPhone - inner city living at its finest...learning how to scoot and brake in the back lane!

Is there anything you have been proud of lately? Summer is a great time to observe and enjoy your kids playing outdoors, having fun in the water and just being kids.. love to hear your thoughts..

we love you so....

We have loved the book (by Maurice Sendaks) all year and finally we saw the movie by Spike Jonze... and loved it. We tried to not go in with too many expectations and we were blown away with the emotions we felt as we walked out of the cinema.. It is haunting but also beautiful. Thinking it was a true children's flick, we took Little H and have been surprised that 5 days later he is still talking about it...
We found the suit a day later and Little H has not taken it off since...Max's attitude and all!
What did you think of it?

new summer pj's..

Now that baby H is ONE, I thought he deserved 'big boy' pjamas that are his very own...not hand me downs from big brother! So when Snugglebum arrived instore, I just couldn't resist buying each H a pair.

1st day and spotless.... didn't last of course... but the quality of snugglebum is excellent and will look as good as new after many a soak this summer!

Instore now xx

boys stuff

We have just had lots and lots of new stock arrive and wow does it all look so good. There is so much i want to share but where do i start? This tee by Minti is a No1 favourite instore at the moment and i couldn't pass it up either. With two boys, its going to get heaps of wear ...... though it is white and I'm not good with washing or bibs...but how could i resist it... its so darn cute!

Terrible Two's.....

Little h hasn't too bad in the scheme of things but there have certainly been times when he has tried our patience. But with potty training a success, it appears the short temper, demands and just plain mischievousness has now left the house and we have our lovely little boy back thats listens.
Today:
he said Thank you 3 times (and its only lunchtime!)
kissed and cuddled mum twice (without being asked!)
didn't argue about the Munster trackpants he was wearing today (there's been arguments every morning with wanting to wear shorts)
..and played with baby h when I wasn't looking (nicely!)

fingers crossed (and i'm not saying this out loud) we may have passed the terrible two's stage...

The Infamous Potty

Until you go thru it yourself, i don't think anyone truly understands the term 'potty training'.... at least i certainly didnt..

Its a joy to see the triumphant look upon your child's face when the 1st wee or poo arrives in the potty..... the look and word's of "i'm a big boy now' is something i will treasure (and wish i could bottle) forever....but...... the aftermath of those moments has got me speechless.

Cleaning out the potty (to put it in kiddy terms) is just plain 'yucky'! and one of the yuckiest things ive had to do as a parent... all with a smile on my face as if its the most natural thing in the world for mummy!

I would love to hear from you if there are any tips out there... im only at day 4!!

rockin 70's knits!

Well imagine how happy i was when nana came over with a bag full of childrens knits that were daddy H's. 70's knits, all handmade by his nana. That makes them 2nd generation Hatchett classic's! They are all so adorable and i love that my boys will wear and enjoy them too. Hudson wore this one for the 1st time today. he's rockin in his crew neck knit, chalk n cheese rust cords, construction drawings, and 'work boots'... just like his 'dad's.

Little H's Personal Notecards

Look what I got from Etsy today! Baby and little H have their very own notecards!
I want to teach both boys the art of writing notes - its just old fashioned good manners and boys can write letters too can't they? ....... i know, i know perhaps they are a little young, but hey, what a great excuse to buy new stationary!
With this supplier, you can choose the image, font and colour (she has designed some beautifully simple graphics) and then WHAM! it was here in less than a week.
Her website is http://www.sarahandabraham.com/ but i actually put the order thru etsy.
