Loving these books edited by Kathreen Ricketson (instore and online).
Visually gorgeous (I drooled over every page) with each project designed by various talented Crafter's from around the world.

The projects are graded and designed for 7-12 year olds.... but great too if you enjoy making things or have just bought a sewing machine.... start those chrissie presents!

I enjoyed reading the post about the books from Little eco footprints - Tricia had an afternoon with her kids and friends and check out what they made! Adorable!

In case you haven't seen or read Frankie's new book Spaces, here is a peak...... and guess what? our wallpaper from instore is featured - woohoo!

If you love interiors, 2nd hand, vintage, nanna styling or just collecting, this book is for you!

It's a collection of interior spaces from around the world. The difference with this book is that all the spaces created are made from inexpensive items -  knick knacks, furniture, posters etc that are found, reused, passed down. There is organised clutter (my kind of look!), minimalism, colour, prints, fabrics... you will be inspired for sure!

Wee Wonderfuls new book

Hillary Lang's blog Wee Wonderfuls has been a true inspiration and her new book Wee Wonderfuls - 24 Doll's to Sew and Love (which has just landed in Australia) doesn't dissapoint; so so adorable... and Clever!

The styles, patterns and visuals are fun, clear and styled so cute, there is something for everyone from beginner through to more experienced sewers. It's a book I don't think will date either as the dolls are modern and nostalgic at the same time..

If you love sewing, eager to try making a doll, this book is a MUST.  Put it on the christmas list now!

A great one for DAD's day

Handy Dad by Todd Davis has arrived, in perfect time for Fathers Day!
25 projects for dad and kids with materials that can easily be found at home or in a hardware store. Projects vary from fairly easy to a full weekend's worth or work and they are are really cool! I've put a copy away for Mr H as he often reminisces about his childhood tinkering away with his grandad in the shed making things.....

Loving this new book Paper Scissors Glue that just came in. Some projects are very much like the paper crafts on Playschool (that always look easy when your watching them but you can never remember them later on!); a great reference for a quiet day at home with the kids.

The books is designed for 3 to 10 year old's and it would be evenly proportioned for boys and girls. Catherine Woram also wrote another favourite of ours Crafting with Kids ..... Its a goodie!

Anorak - A happy mag

 

Anorak is here! This incredible kids magazine hit our shores this year and we are lucky enough to be a stockist. It's a quarterly magazine for children (...and maybe us adults) created by Cathy Olmedillas from the UK. She calls it her 'happy mag'!

Anorak is full of crazy and inspiring stuff for kids age 5-8, including stories, happy activities, book reviews and thought-provoking features. Featuring the work of leading contemporary illustrators and with lots of contributions from kids themselves, it is one of the coolest and brightest magazines around.

The best present ever!

This would have to be the best present ever for a little boy (or big for that matter!) that has or had an obsession with Star Wars. There are 11 scanimation scenes and as little H says "are super super cool!"; just turn the page and the scene changes.

Lets explore our City!

I love discovering new places and what better way than these two new publications!

Designed in a range of bright and attractive colours, each card features a themed tour on one side and a map pinpointing the pit stops on the other. The maps are a feature in themselves, with a modern design and great illustrations.

Tours are designed to last around three hours (which i know is a little long with little kidso but it also depends on how long you linger in each place) and include one foodie stop.

This means you can select one tour card if you have limited time, choose a couple of tour cards for your days itinerary, or select a few cards and pick out places from each to visit. Even with a few cards in tow, their small and light format makes them easy to carry as you discover the city’s secrets.

We have been stockists of Sublime Stitching for a while now, but did i mention this new kit that came in? Its the Sublime Stitching Baby Bib Embroidery Kit.

Family Recipes by Annabel Karmel

Annabel Karmel is probably my most favourite Cooking guru when it comes ot cooking for my boys. Her meals are nutricious, delicious and EASY to make! I started both boys on her purees and haven't looked back. This recipe came thru today and it looks really GOOD! Family Recipes - Salmon Teriyaki Annabel Karmel

If you don't want to check out her website, her it is:

Salmon Teriyaki
Ingredients
80 ml (3fl oz) soy sauce
100 ml (4 fl oz) sake (Japanese rice wine)
50 ml (2fl oz) mirin (sweet Japanese cooking wine)
2 tbsp caster sugar
4 X 150g thick fillets of salmon, skinned
4 tbsp vegetable oil
250g button mushrooms, sliced
200g beansprouts
3 tbsp finely sliced spring onion
200 g basmati rice

Method
Mix the ingredients for the marinade together in a saucepan and stir over a medium heat until the sugar has dissolved. Allow to cool down, then place the salmon in a dish, pour over the marinade and set aside for 10 minutes.
Cook the rice according to the instructions on the packet. Heat half of the oil in a frying pan or wok and sauté the mushrooms for 2 minutes, then add the beansprouts and spring onions and cook for 2 minutes more. Meanwhile, drain the salmon reserving the marinade and pat dry . Heat the remaining oil in a frying pan and saute the salmon for about 2 minutes each side or until slightly browned. Pour away the excess oil from the pan. Alternatively you can cook the salmon on a very hot griddle brushed with a little oil. Whichever method you choose, after 2 minutes pour a little of the teriyaki marinade over the salmon and continue to cook for a few minutes, basting occasionally. Simmer the remaining marinade in a small saucepan until thickened. Divide the vegetables between four plates, place the salmon on top and pour the teriyaki sauce over the fish.
