dinner parties...

While on holidays we decided to have a dinner party for New Years Eve... summer style in the backyard!

The weather was gorgeous, friends arrived for the day, kids played happily after a day at the beach and late afternoon was spent frocking up and getting the food prepped.

We deliberately didn't sit down until the kids went to bed so though we ate late, it made all the difference.

It was a beautiful night by candlelight, spent with friends. And made all the more special with that little bit more effort.

The table setting was quite simple - old pasta jars filled with candles, an old (but loved) doily tablecloth, a few nectar jars filled with flowers, paper napkins wrapped around the cutlery with twine and a shipping tag and the new pots I bought from the Shady Fig.

Dinner parties, we need to have more of them! xx

my new word for 2012...

I decided not to do any new years resolutions this year.

I have some goals for the business that i have set, but for my 'life', I decided to follow Maxabellaloves suit and just choose a 'word' to define how i will live this year.

and I have decided the word will be focus.

Friend will laugh at this word, cause i am always teased that i am trying to do too much, or i am running late, don't remember a special day, forgotten a message .... and this is why i've chosen 'focus'... even if its just to focus in/on the moment.

holidays are awesome

The two week holiday with the little h's has been awesome. Boxing Day we drove down the coast and stayed until Monday.

We had friends and family drop in every day and New Year was so much fun! The best bit though was just going with the flow and enjoying what each day presented...

Our last night was spent at The Huskisson Fair and it was a fabulous way to spend the last night. The kids had a ball and we enjoyed watching them. so pooped now though!

back to reality.. and a good nights sleep.. xx

while he sleeps...

While down south I had to visit a couple of favourites while the Mr H had a 10 minute power snooze...

Lisa Madigan has only been open a few months and already is looking to be a quick stop on the way through Berry. She took over the lease from One Wise Owl (they are now back at JindyAndy Mill) and there were so many pieces i ooohed and aaahed!  So beachy and her cordial was perfect for the warm day.

2nd stop was The Shady Fig in Nowra, and i couldn't resist these small plants, in fact i bought two!  I used them for NYE table decorations and they received so many comments. So simple and the hessian made such a visual difference to being in just an ordinary pot.

you like it? i do! Besides being gorgeous to look at, I love the affirmation too..  It just seems to work for me in this month of January, thinking about the last year and what the new one will bring..

what did you do new years eve?

We have had a lovely week spending time in the sun with family and friends. The weather has been perfect start to the new year hasn't it?

This is lovely too... you know Zooey is one of my favourites and watching 500 days of Summer is on the list to watch these next few days. It's so cute that they are real besties!
